AIMSWeb benchmark testing is done 3 times a year. There are fall, winter, spring assessments given in reading and math for all students. Below is a list of the assessments and the chart identifies what grade level gives them.
MATH ASSESSMENTS

- The student orally counts as high as they can from 1-100. This is a 1 minute test.

- Number Identification

- The student is given a random list of numbers (1-10 for kindergarten, and 1-20 for 1st grade) that they must read correctly. This is a 1 minute test.

- The student is shown two numbers with a third one missing. It could be the first, second, or third number that is missing. They must then give the correct number. For example, 1 _ 3. The correct answer would be 2. This is a 1 minute test.

- Quantity Discrimination
- K,1

- The student is given two numbers. They must distinguish which number is greater. This is a 1 minute test.
|
- Math Computation (MCOMP)
- 1,2,3,4,5,6
|
- This is a basic math facts test. This is an 8 minute test.
|
- Math Concepts and Applications (MCAP)
- 1,2,3,4,5,6
|
- This is a math test that includes problem solving and math application problems. This is an 8-minute test.

READING ASSESSMENTS

- The student names the letters randomly arranged. This is a 1-minute test.
|
|
|
- The student must give the sound for the letters that are listed individually. This is a 1 minutes.

- Phoneme Segmentation
- K, 1
|
- The student is given a word such as bug. They must break the word apart into sounds “b” “u” “g.” They are given one minute to do as many as possible. This is a 1-minute test.

- Students must read a list of short vowel nonsense words. An example of this would be “nuz”. This is a 1-minute test.

- Daily Oral Reading Fluency (DORF)

- Students are given a passage to read. They are scored on words read correctly. This is a 1-minute test.

- MAZE
- (reading comprehension)

- Students are given a passage to read. In that passage there are words missing. For each word that is missing, they are given 3 word choices and they must select the correct word. This is a 3-minute test.

- Dolch Sight Words
- K,1,2,3

- Students are presented with Pre-Primer, Primer, First Grade, and Second Grade sight words to read. This is not a timed test.
